For those of you following John's recovery from back surgery on June 2nd, I have some great news... he's been released to go back to work next week! That's pretty impressive, considering the procedure he underwent just 6-1/2 weeks ago.
I have been reading through the operative notes on John's microdiskectomy (that's a mouthful!) and wondering how in the WORLD he was able to get around like he was before the surgery. The report says that "due to significant scarring around the exiting nerve root in his spinal column, the procedure was more complicated than is normally anticipated and required twice as much time and effort to prevent tearing and further complications." Also that a "sizeable herniation was identified including endplate bone as well as sizeable pieces of disk, which were resected." and "many small degenerative pieces of disk were identified." In other words, lots of large and small pieces of bone, broken off and floating around in his spinal column. Thank God no further damage was done. Even with all the pain and suffering he has gone through, John was indeed blessed.
So - it's back to the daily grind for Mr. Bridgers. Thanks everyone for all your support and prayers.
Oh, and one more thing, I will be enforcing the "No More Lifting" rule put in place by the doctor. He may be big, but he's not indestructible!

Have fun at work John. I know he is ready to get back to the daily grind. Take care of that back! I'm glad that he is feeling better.
